Hello! I am Md Ujan Ahmad, the developer of this website. I have been collecting stamps since 2017. But I have faced a lot of problems in recent times to do research works on postage stamps as there were not so much availability of information across the web.
Also, there are some of the instances where we commit many mistakes because we are not aware of the small things that we have to take care of when collecting stamps. That’s why I have started to create a website which can work as a guide as well as a information hub for young philatelists.
My Theme on this Website: Kolkata & Kolkata GPO
I have decided to keep the theme of this website Kolkata and Kolkata GPO, the city I live in. Historically this city is one of the most important cities of India. The British East India Company first expanded their colonies centering Kolkata as their capital. Kolkata GPO was first established in 1774 by then Governor General Warren Hastings. The GPO changed its locations many times until 1868, which is better discussed in the post entitled “Kolkata GPO: The History” available on this website.
The main reason I started to create this website is the 250 years celebration of Kolkata GPO. The 250 years was celebrated from 14th to 19th March 2024. I had to create an exhibit on Kolkata GPO, The Evolution of India Post and Means of Mail Transportation.
